Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Instant Online Quote work?
Complete the online form with your shade style, measurements, fabric, and lining selections. Your preliminary quote will be emailed to you in about five minutes. If you would like to proceed, I will personally review your measurements and photos, confirm the details, and email a final quote before fabrication begins. Quotes are valid for 30 days.
What measurements and photos will I need?
Use a steel tape measure and provide the exact width, total height, and arch height of your window or door. Please do not make your own deductions unless instructed. Send a straight-on photo that includes the entire window, floor, and ceiling, along with a closer angled photo showing the depth and shape of the trim.
How long will my order take?
Most orders are completed within six to eight weeks after the order details are approved and all required fabric, materials, and templates have been received. Your current estimated lead time will be listed in the final quote. Rush service may be available for an additional charge.
Can I provide my own fabric?
Yes. Most designs require decorator fabric approximately 54 inches wide, and all fabric must be approved before it is purchased or shipped. Please send a link, photo, or fabric specifications for review. Curtain panels, bedding, or other finished items may sometimes be used, but additional labor may apply and exact pattern matching cannot always be guaranteed.
How should I ship my fabric or other materials?
Wait until your fabric has been approved, then ship it to the Waterford, Michigan address provided in your final quote. Fabric should be rolled on a tube rather than folded because deep creases cannot always be completely removed. Include your name and contact information inside the package.
How are fabric imperfections handled?
I inspect customer-supplied fabric and work around visible flaws whenever possible. However, hidden flaws and changes caused by fiber content, humidity, sunlight, cleaning, stretching, shrinkage, or normal wear cannot be guaranteed. Pattern placement also depends on the fabric repeat and the amount of usable fabric provided.
Which lining options are available?
Depending on the fabric and shade design, options may include light-filtering lining, premium napped lining, room-darkening or blackout lining, or no lining. I will help determine the most appropriate option, and the selected lining will be listed in your final quote.
How will my order be shipped?
Finished shades are carefully packaged and generally shipped by insured UPS Ground service. The shipping cost will be listed separately in your final quote. Orders are shipped within the United States; international shipping is not available.
Can I return or exchange my order?
Because every shade is custom made to your approved measurements and selections, orders cannot be returned or exchanged. If there is an error on my part, I will correct it promptly. Please review all measurements and order details carefully before approving fabrication.
Can I cancel my order?
Please contact me as soon as possible if you need to cancel. Once materials have been ordered or fabrication has begun, any refund will be reduced by the cost of materials and labor already completed. An order cannot be canceled once fabrication is substantially complete or the order has shipped.
Will my information or project photos be shared?
Your personal information will not be sold and will only be used as needed to prepare, complete, and ship your order. I may share nonidentifying workroom or installed project photos on my website or social-media pages, but your name, address, and other personal information will never be shown. If you prefer that your project photos not be shared, please let me know in writing.
What should I know about cord safety?
Cord lengths and safety devices are determined by the shade design and applicable safety requirements, so requests for longer cords may not be available. Always install and use every safety device supplied with your shade, and keep all cords secured and out of reach of children and pets. If young children live in or regularly visit the home, please tell me before ordering so we can discuss whether the selected design is appropriate.
